Full course description

This program is offered to UM-Flint Staff and Faculty with the objective to enhance professional and student interaction capabilities.  Improving the overall student experience at UM-Flint is part of the Strategic Transformation and, therefore, a key to our continued success.

This program will highlight the need for a positive interaction mindset, as well as how we can improve the UM-Flint brand to current and prospective students.  We will discuss trends in positive interactions within higher education.  Through pre-work, we will share insights into current employee views about their roles and expectations.

We will discuss how to stay true to our governance requirements while creating win-win solutions for co-workers and students.

This program will provide insight into different communication and interaction styles through a DiSC assessment. We will share how to communicate effectively with different styles.  We will discuss how listening and empathy are critical.

Participants will learn how to resolve issues with win-win solutions.  We will discuss when we should feel empowered to make a decision and when we will need to escalate.

To ensure that learning and application go beyond this one-day program, we will discuss how each of us can measure success in applying these new skills.

This is a great opportunity to develop your professional skills and become an even stronger member of the UM-Flint team.
