Full course description
This workshop series is co-hosted by the Thompson Center for Learning and Teaching (TCLT) and the Office of Online and Digital Education (ODE). Note that the series is open only to faculty who hold at least a continuing half-time appointment. Ideally we ask that you come with a course in mind that you are currently teaching (any modality is fine). We will be using that course to explore assessment design, evaluation techniques, and active learning strategies during the first three sessions. We will then as a group consider how to conduct effective and informative peer observations, culminating with you both being observed by some of your peers in the course you have designated as well as you conducting some peer observations yourself. The workshop series concludes with each of the peer observation groups sharing about their experiences – what was learned about backwards design, how backwards design was implemented, and what was learned from each others’ teaching observations.
You will receive a $500 stipend if you participate in the first four workshop sessions. An additional $500 stipend can be earned if you participate in the peer observation process during the month of March, as well as the group presentations in April. As a bonus for going through the peer observation process, you will be certified to participate as a peer observer in our Faculty Peer Observation and Coaching Program.
